The Healthy Donut Option
Think eating healthy means giving up donuts? Think again! Below I share a fantastic video from Quest Nutrition’s 15 second recipe youtube series that is super easy to make & will keep you full, focused and ready to take on the day.
What makes a real donut so bad?
Great question! Donuts are surprisingly low in calories (about 200-400 per donut), but as we know there is a lot more to the story than just calories! Traditional donuts are deep fried in oil at very high temperatures which means that they are loaded with the trans fatty acids that are so strongly linked to heart disease. (yikes!) … And we all know it is highly unlikely that you will only eat one donut at a time! 😉
Further more, they contain high amounts of sugar, and little nutritional value. The quest bar version on the other hand has much more fiber and protein, and much less sugar which means it will not cause the typical blood sugar spike you would expect to see after eating a donut.
